Summer of 2009 – Day 2
Posted by @bhitalks on May 25, 2009
After starting off from Delhi we reached New Jalpaigudi Station today at 1400 hrs. At the NJP our cab was waiting for us and we drove up 5000 ft to a remotely located tiny village in the hills of Teesta Valley.
The drive was a 3 hour thrilling experience, something which can only be felt in person and even a thousand pictures cannot do justice to the beauty of these landscapes.
Standing at 5000 ft, hidden away in the lush green tea plantations, Tinchuley is a small village near Takdah in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal.
The drive to Tinchuley involves breathtaking views of the Teesta Valley on a road that serpentines its way in sharp bends and steep climbs overseeing the river Teesta all the way. It had already started drizzling when we reached NJP and the showers continued throughout the drive. The incessent rains made the whole valley enticing with clouds and mist.
We reached our guest house at about 1800 hrs at Tinchuley and right away went to rest after a tiring 2 days.
